 James Corden in Audemars Piguet

Michelle Obama and James Corden have made Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Selfwinding the most prominent watch of the year, wearing the elegant sport watch when he takes to the wheel in Carpool Karaoke. James Murdoch in Ressence

The upper half of the watch is filled with oil, which gives enhanced legibility to the numerals, which are on discs that are rotated via magnets located in the bottom half of the watch. Ressence has a following in Silicon Valley as well as in Hollywood — former Nest CEO Tony Fadell is a fan of the brand. $42,200, available at Jewell’s at Galpin Premier, Van Nuys, Calif.

 Justin Timberlake in Rolex

The new trend back toward yellow gold is getting a boost from Justin Timberlake who’s been wearing his new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 almost everywhere this year, including in his Can’t Stop the Feeling video. The Day-Date is often called the President’s Watch and was a favorite of Lyndon Johnson. $34,850 at Gearys on Rodeo, Beverly Hills.

 Ellen DeGeneres in Patek Philippe

She’s also a fan of Patek Philippe and recently wore two automatic references of the blue-chip Swiss maker on The Ellen Show: a classic Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A in stainless steel with silvery-white dial ($24,830 at Patek Philippe Boutique at Gearys, Beverly Hills, and at Tiffany & Co, NYC) and an Annual Calendar Chronograph in stainless steel ($51,030).

 Kevin Hart in Richard Mille

One of Hollywood’s most fanatic watch lovers, Kevin Hart is a fan of Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Rolex and Richard Mille. He wore one of Richard Mille’s manually wound RM 035 Americas Rafael Nadal (made in a limited edition of 50) to a screening of Central Intelligence in June. Made in collaboration with the tennis great, it has a 55-hour power reserve and is made from ultra-light ceramic, carbon and titanium, clocking in at just 4.3 grams. $120,000 at Richard Mille, Beverly Hills.
